Tanzania Trip Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Is February 16
HANCOCK, MI - A spaghetti dinner fundraiser, hosted by eight Finlandia University students preparing to travel to Tanzania, Africa, this May, will take place Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Hancock.
Tickets for the dinner are $7.00 for each adult and $5.00 for each child under 12 years. Children under five years may attend free. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door prior to the dinner.
This is Finlandia's eighth annual service and learning trip to Tanzania.
The Finlandia students, accompanied by two faculty members, will spend part of their three-week trip at Kisarawe Lutheran Secondary School, which is near the capital city Dar es Salaam, living on the campus and interacting with the students and teachers there.
The group will also stay with host families in Dar es Salaam, absorbing their culture and learning about the city.
In addition, the five Finlandia senior nursing students that are part of this year's group will spend a week working side-by-side with medical staff at Muhimbili National Hospital, the largest hospital in Tanzania.
