Bohnak to Sign New Almanac at North Wind Books

Michigan's UP AlmanacHANCOCK, MI - Finlandia University's North Wind Books will host a book signing with author and meteorologist Karl Bohnak on Saturday, January 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Bohnak will sign copies of his book, "Michigan's Upper Peninsula Almanac," which he co-authored with Ron Jolly. The Almanac is a comprehensive guide for every resident, visitor, and student of the Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
"Michigan's Upper Peninsula Almanac," is an illustrated and comprehensive 580-page guide to the U.P. with over 200 photos. The "fun facts" included in the book cover practically every acre of the Upper Peninsula.

This "Yooper encyclopedia" reveals little-known U.P.-related details about John Dillinger, Big Louie, Chase Osborn, Hemmingway in the U.P., businesses , tourism, agriculture, sports facts and history, extreme weather statistics , casinos, historical markers, and more.

Karl Bohnak is the author of the popular U.P. weather book, "So Cold a Sky." He is a meteorologist at WLUC TV-6, and holds the American Meteorological Society's broadcast seal of approval.

Ron Jolly is a popular veteran radio broadcaster in northern Michigan who spent fifteen years in news and information programming. He has won awards for his news reporting on WCTM from UPI, Michigan News Network, and the National Commission on Working Women. He is author of "Northern Michigan Almanac."

The book signing is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. North Wind Books is located at 437 Quincy St., Hancock.
