Finlandia University Gallery Announces Summer Hours

HANCOCK, MI - The Finlandia University Gallery, located in the Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock, has announced its summer 2011 hours of operation.

Starting May 1, and through the month of August, the gallery will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Currently featured at the gallery, through June 11, is the Finlandia University International School of Art & Design 2011 Diploma Works Exhibition, which features a variety of mediums by this year's graduating BFA students.

From June 20 to September 8, the gallery will feature an exhibit of textile arts by two Finnish artists, mother and daughter Riitta-Liisa Haavisto and Anna-Riitta Haavisto.

An opening reception for the Haavisto exhibit, titled White Forests, Blue Sky, will take place Thursday, June 23, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A closing reception is Thursday, September 8, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Starting September 1, extended gallery hours will resume.
