Geri Hawley, BS PTA


Geri was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and has spent most of her life in the U.P.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University in 1979 and returned to MTU in 1988 to complete her teaching certificate in secondary education.  After working in various jobs around the country, utilizing her science and education background, she settled "home" in Ontonagon, Michigan.  In 1997, she enrolled in the newly established Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Soumi College, and in 1998 became a member of its first graduating class.  Since graduation, she has worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant, gaining experience in varied settings, such as acute care, out-patient, long term care, home health, and pediatrics.  Geri has been teaching at Finlandia in the PTA Program since the fall of 2005. She enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, boating, outdoor sports, and reading.  She volunteers at her church by teaching religious education classes and helping with fund raisers and church functions.  She currently resides in Ontonagon with her husband John. They have two sons, Kyle and Eric, who currently live and work out of the area.
