New Student Orientation is August 18 - 21, 2014

All newly admitted Finlandia students are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). Depending upon the number of credit hours earned at previous institutions, some students may only be required to attend the first day of orientation.

  • New and transfer students with 24 or fewer college credits (post-high school graduation) are required to attend the entire four-day NSO. These students are also enrolled in the one-credit course, Sisu Seminar - UNS 115, which is partially fulfilled through participation in the four days of New Student Orientation.
  • New transfer students with 25 or more college credits (post-high school graduation) are only required to attend the first day of NSO - Monday, August 18, 2014.

The orientation program provides opportunities for students to learn more about Finlandia University, connect with faculty, staff and University services, and to engage with other new students.

The 2014 NSO includes exciting opportunities, such as a boat ride canal tour, an underground tour of the Quincy Mine, and an ice cream social at the president’s home. In addition, an optional day trip to the Porcupine Mountains is being offered on Friday, August 22nd. Sign-up for this trip will occur during Welcome Weekend.
