Wraps and salad options coming back to Finlandia Café for Spring semester

Beginning spring semester 2021, the Finlandia Hall Café will offer more meal options for students. Custom-made speciality salad and wrap options will be available, bringing back some semblance of normalcy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Borgen, Seppinen featured in videos about Finns living in the UP

Finlandia staff member, Nata Borgen, and international business student, Santeri Seppinen, were recently featured as subjects of two short videos on Finns living in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The videos are promotional pieces for Finnzone and are part of Finnzone’s strategy for attracting Finnish companies to the Keweenaw. Student Life: Compete against other colleges during virtual Switchboard Game event

Upon return from the holiday break, Finlandia University students can look forward to a friendly and fun online competition with other students from St. Xavier University, Dunwoody College and Eastern Gateway Community College. FinnU Nursing ranked a top program in Michigan by Nursing Schools Almanac for second straight year

Finlandia University’s nursing program was ranked a top program in Michigan for the second year in a row by Nursing Schools Almanac. Nursing Schools Almanac evaluated over 3,000 schools on the institution’s academic prestige and perceived value, the breadth and depth of nursing programs offered, and student success, particularly on the NCLEX licensure examination. Giving Tuesday brings in over $30K for student scholarships

Finlandia alumni and friends donated over $30,000 for FinnU’s Giving Tuesday efforts on Dec. 1, 2020. In total, 61 donors raised $30,087 for student scholarships. This total includes the $10,000 anonymous match that kicked off the event.

“Once again, Finlandia’s friends and alumni stepped up to support student scholarships,” said President Philip Johnson. “A special thank you to the generous heart behind the anonymous $10,000 Giving Tuesday match.”

Melissa Helppi (’18, RN, BSN) Joins Finlandia’s Nursing Faculty

Melissa Helppi (’18, RN, BSN) recently joined Finlandia’s nursing faculty as an instructor. Helppi was the 2018 student representative for Finlandia and graduated Summa Laude from FinnU’s BSN program. She has been with the university since her graduation as a professional Nursing tutor, but has now joined the faculty. Her current duties include instructing the adult medical-surgical nursing course and clinical, and being a maternal-child clinical instructor.

ECAC Fall FIFA finalist, Chelan Gonzalez, and Esports Coach, Thomas Goodman, called into Finlandia Fridays this week to talk about the team’s success in their first season, how they managed to play through COVID restrictions and what they’re looking forward to in 2021 with their new arena.
