Dr. Kemppainen is currently on the Finlandia University Board of Trustees, serves as principal at Graveraet Elementary School in Marquette and assistant principal at Marquette Senior High School.

The eighth annual Finlandia University Campus Read concludes Saturday with the inaugural Writers of the Northern Persuasion author forum. The forum is free, open to the public and family friendly. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Finnish American Heritage Center on Quincy Street in Hancock.

Finlandia University baccalaureate and commencement activities for the class of 2016 are scheduled for Sunday, May 1, on the university’s campus in Hancock.
Exercises for Graduation Day 2016 will begin Sunday morning at 10 a.m. with the Baccalaureate Worship Service at the Chapel of St. Matthew, and conclude with the Commencement Exercises at 1:30 p.m. at Paavo Nurmi Center.

To take an Institutional Challenge Exam, Finlandia University students must obtain a form from the Testing Center and submit the completed request (in writing) to the academic dean of the subject area in which the course is offered. For each exam, a $95 fee must be paid in full at the Office of Student Accounts prior to the scheduled exam date.

Music and theatre are back at Finlandia University, and with that comes auditions for the 2016 Fall Play. Open auditions will be Monday, April 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the future College of Health Sciences building.
