Finlandia is proud to introduce Alyson DeLandsheer, one of the newest additions to the Finlandia University family. DeLandsheer takes a lead role at our university as the Coordinator of University Relations.

Doreen Korpela celebrated 40 years of service at Finlandia University this year.
In October of this year Doreen Korpela celebrated the 40th anniversary of her first day at Finlandia University. On Thursday night of last week at the university’ Christmas celebration Korpela was one of 18 employees recognized for more than 220 years of service to the university.

The Upper Peninsula’s winters are long and dark. With the leaves changing color outside, it is appropriate to begin preparing for the winter ahead. Many individuals in northern climates struggle with mood changes
along with the impending darkness. A condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is prevalent.
Donations are still being accepted for The Table: A Student Needs Pantry located in the Chapel of St. Matthew. They can be dropped off at the Campus Pastor’s Office in the basement of the chapel at anytime.
“Thank you to all dropping donations off,” Campus Pastor Soren Schmidt said. “The needs pantry and the students thank you. We have consistent usage of the pantry, and items continue to need replenishing.”

The Finlandia University community is invited to join in a service of rememberance, grief, and protest on Thursday, June 23 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Matthew. President Philip Johnson will lead the brief service of readings and meditation.

Finlandia University is excited to welcome Kelly Dostaler to the university’s family as the new coordinator of admissions operations. Dostaler began her duties Monday, June 13. She is taking over the role previously held by Stacy Froese, who is taking over the role of accountant and accounts payable specialist in Finlandia’s business office.
