The Seaton Center for Vocation & Career is officially open

It’s a moment campus has been waiting for since the news originally broke in 2019. The Seaton Center for Vocation & Career is officially open and housed in Nikander 15. While there are still some furniture pieces coming in and decorating to be completed, the CVC is now offering services and appointment to students.

Breaking the Barriers Film Series kicks off with Selma on Feb. 18

The Breaking the Barriers Film Series will showcase the movie “Selma” on Thursday, Feb. 18 starting at 7 p.m. in the Hirvonen College of Health Sciences auditorium. Volunteer with the Great Bear Chase this March

The UP Health System Great Bear Chase Ski Marathon is looking for volunteers to assist with its annual event. The Great Bear Chase includes three distances, with separate races and starts for classic and freestyle: 50k, 25k, and 10k. The Great Bear Chase also includes a 50km skiathlon (25km classic and 25km freestyle). Finlandia Fridays talks new student health clinic

This week’s Finlandia Fridays featured Assistant Professor of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner, Cindy Blake, as she discussed the new student health clinic, which officially opened this semester. Finlandia partnered with Upper Great Lakes Health to open the on-campus clinic, located in Nikander 14A. It will be open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm and provide same-day in-person and tele-health appointments.

Kendi’s “Stamped From the Beginning” selected as Campus Read, Anti-Racist Open Classroom Series Announced

The Campus Read Committee is pleased to announce the Spring 2021 Anti-Racist Open Classroom Series, which will complement the selected Campus Read book, Stamped From the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi.

FinnU’s Time-Honored MLK Day of Service Undergoes Changes Due to COVID-19

The annual tradition of Finlandia University students taking the day off from classes and participating in community service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day is being altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of testing and social distancing guidelines, many of the opportunities that students normally have for community service, like visiting nursing homes and reading to school-aged children, are no longer available.

Student Life: Compete against other colleges during virtual Switchboard Game event

Upon return from the holiday break, Finlandia University students can look forward to a friendly and fun online competition with other students from St. Xavier University, Dunwoody College and Eastern Gateway Community College. Day of Wellness Event Schedule

On November 4, most classes on campus will be canceled so students can focus on their mental health, take a breather, and regroup for the final few weeks of the semester.
