SNA hosting Blood Drive on Thursday

Finlandia University’s Student Nurses Association is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, November 8 from 3 to 7 p.m. in Mannerheim Central. No pre-registration is required and all blood types are being accepted.

The blood drive is being put on in conjunction with the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center. Donated blood helps save lives throughout the U.P. There is currently a critical need for A-negative and O-negative.

City of Hancock winter parking ordinance now in effect

The City of Hancock’s winter parking ordinance went into effect on Thursday, November 1 and will be in place through April 30, 2019.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to stop, stand or park a vehicle, or to cause or permit a vehicle to be parked or left unattended between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on any day on any of the streets or highways of the City of Hancock during the period of November 1 through April 30.

Swedish comedy is November’s Nordic Film Series selection

A delightful tale about an older man with a less-than-delightful personality is the November selection for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center.

Financial Aid moves to Old Main

Financial Aid at Finlandia University has made the move from the Jutila Center to Old Main. Financial Aid staff can now be found on the west side of the main floor of Finlandia’s original building. Convenient and free parking is available in the lot behind the building. All e-mail addresses, fax numbers and phone numbers associated with Financial Aid remain the same.

Author Lindsay King-Miller was invited to campus this week to speak about her book Ask a Queer Chick; a Guide to Sex, Love, and Life for Girls Who Dig Girls. While on campus King-Miller dropped by Finlandia Fridays to discuss and inform others of her experiences.

Meet the 2018-19 TLC/TRIO Tutors

TRIO Tutoring Services is excited to introduce the 2018-19 tutors.

The Tutoring and Learning Center offers all Finlandia students free tutoring for help in many general education courses and some upper level courses. The TLC also offers study skill workshops, study groups, computer literacy development, and the use of a small computer lab. FinnU faculty members utilize the TLC to provide students with study aids such as classroom reserve material, review sheets, and past exams.

Finlandia University has named Father Corbin Eddy Visiting Campus Pastor for the 2018-19 academic year.
