Servant Leadership House now accepting applications for 2018-19

Female students with at least a 3.0 GPA are invited to apply to live in the Servant Leadership House next school year. The Servant Leadership House is a unique living and learning community for female students who are committed to personal growth and servant leadership as a means of building a vibrant and caring community.

Applications are due March 15, 2018.

Finlandia ski outing scheduled for February 17

Make the decision to make your Valentine’s Day Weekend one that fills your mind, body and soul with the health it deserves by joining Finlandia employees, students and families at Mont Ripley on Saturday, February 17 for a day of winter fun.

The event, titled Sweet Deals for Healthy Hearts and Souls, includes a discounted rate for all employees and students with a valid Finlandia University ID card.

Student Nurses Association hosting breakfast benefit for Omega House

The Finlandia University Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) is hosting its second annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, February 24 at Gloria Dei Church in Hancock from 8 a.m. to noon. The proceeds will benefit the Omega House in Houghton.

Tickets will be available at the door for a $5 donation per person. Carry out is available, and all of those in attendance are invited to participate in a raffle.

Fundraising event Saturday from 11:30 to 2 at Jutila Center

For Finlandia University’s International School of Art & Design this weekend’s big event isn’t taking place at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, it’s taking place right in the Jutila Center as students, alumni, community members and employees are getting together for the annual Soup-A-Bowl.

Students: CopperDog 150 needs you (and you need CopperDog)

The CopperDog 150 is a three-stage competitive sled dog race that travels all across the Keweenaw Peninsula. This year the race runs March 2-4, with stops in Calumet, Eagle harbor and Copper Harbor. The CopperDog has built a fantastic reputation in mushing community, based largely in the volunteers that turn out in droves to keep them safe and make them feel welcome.

Women’s hockey team hosting benefit for CC Humane Society

Finlandia University women’s hockey team is hosting a fundraiser, Paws for Pucks, on Saturday, February 3 for the Copper Country Humane Society. The event will coincide with the Lions game against St. Scholastica at 12:30 p.m. at the Houghton County Arena.

There will be raffle prizes and a jersey auction. All proceeds will go to the humane society.
