Jarmond and Enstad recognized as Outstanding Seniors in ISB

Students from the Finlandia University International School of Business were recognized during a luncheon on Thursday, April 13, 2017. The intimate luncheon was hosted at the Jutila Center. Students, faculty, and staff from the school gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the seniors, including recognizing Walker Enstad and Schwartzen Jarmond as co-Outstanding Seniors. Textbook Justice Library looking for textbook donations

Book donation boxes are out on campus now to collect books for the Textbook Justice Library.

This project aims to create a collection of textbooks that are used in Finlandia University classes so that students who are in acute financial need and are unable to purchase textbooks will be able to borrow the book and use it all semester long. Christopher Dennis talks criminal justice and his internship with government

This week Finlandia Fridays sits down with criminal justice student and Houghton native Christopher Dennis. After his tenure with the Marines, Dennis was looking for a way to make an impact on the community and remain a leader. His decision was to attend Finlandia University and become heavily involved with campus clubs and other events such as local tutoring. Dennis has recently accepted a unique internship working with the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.

All invited to help with Campus Clean-Up on April 19

Finlandia University invites all student, faculty, staff and alumni to our annual Campus Clean-Up on Wednesday, April 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. Please bring your own rake and push broom from home to help spruce up campus before graduation. Volunteers will meet in front of Finlandia Hall at 3 p.m. and disperse on varies tasks from there.

Business students compete in project management competition

Martial arts club participates in regional tournament

Charles Patch, a sophomore Nursing student, along with his instructor, Dr. Carolyn Dekker, competed at the Soo Bahk Do regional tournament last weekend in St. Charles, Il, taking home second place trophies in forms and sparring.  The Leijona Martial Arts Club at Finlandia will continue to practice through the summer and hopes to return to the tournament with a bigger contingent next spring.

Nordic Film Series wraps season with tale of knife fighters

The 2016-17 season for the Nordic Film Series at Finlandia University’s Finnish American Heritage Center concludes this month with showings of the 2012 fictional drama Härmä. The showings will be at 2 and 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 13 in the FAHC’s Martha Wiljanen Community Hall.
