Donate toward student scholarships this Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30

On November 30, Finlandia University will be raising money for student scholarships for Giving Tuesday. Proceeds raised on Giving Tuesday play an important role in giving FinnU students financial support and quality academic opportunities.

Last year, Finlandia’s Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $30,087 in 24 hours with a donor match. All donations received last year went toward FinnU’s annual scholarship programs to help keep FinnU affordable for current and future students.

Sawadogo joins as Assistant Dean for Residence Life and Campus Security

Annette Sawadogo joined Finlandia’s student affairs staff this past August as the new Assistant Dean for Residence Life and Campus Safety.

Sawadogo has an impressive background with 14 years of experience in higher education. Alpha Lambda Delta Inducts 14 Students in Virtual Ceremony

On March 26, 2021, 14 new members were inducted into Finlandia’s Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) chapter. The ALD is a National Honor Society for First-Year Success and to become a member, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first semester. Student Nurses Association hosting annual breakfast benefit for Omega House

The Finlandia University Student Nurses Association (FUSNA) is hosting its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 10 at Gloria Dei Church in Hancock from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Diversity Dinner transforms into week-long event for 2021

The annual Diversity Dinner event is undergoing changes this year due to COVID-19 considerations. In lieu of occurring on one day, the event will be spread across the entire week of March 15-19. Students are supplying the Dining Services staff with recipes and then the staff will prepare the food, highlighting one culture every evening.

Applications Now Being Accepted for Virginia Fund Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the Virginia Fund Scholarship, which is open to all freshman women at Finlandia University. The scholarship, typically $250-500 is awarded based on academic achievement and contribution to campus life. Applications will be reviewed by the Academic Achievement Committee and the winner will be announced in the coming weeks. The Virginia Fund Scholarship will be applied to the 2021-22 academic year. Upcoming student events provide opportunity to meet others and relax

sign up for open gym time at the hirvonen gym Student Senate, in partnership with FinnU staff and faculty, are working to provide students with an opportunity to use the Hirvonen Gym for non-contact sports open gym. Students can play games like HORSE and Around the World, but cannot engage in 2-on-2. Students will be asked to sign up in advance, initially, to help with capacity limits.
