Donate toward student scholarships this Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30
November 23, 2021On November 30, Finlandia University will be raising money for student scholarships for Giving Tuesday. Proceeds raised on Giving Tuesday play an important role in giving FinnU students financial support and quality academic opportunities.
Last year, Finlandia’s Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $30,087 in 24 hours with a donor match. All donations received last year went toward FinnU’s annual scholarship programs to help keep FinnU affordable for current and future students.
For the 2021-22 academic year, Finlandia distributed $3.2 million for student scholarships and financial support. FinnU gives100 percent of its full-time domestic students financial aid support.
Thanks to scholarship support such as the Rise Together Free Full Tuition Scholarship, the $10,000 Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship, the $2,500 needs-based Lake Effect Scholarship and the $4,000 UP Commitment Scholarship, Finlandia continues to earn awards for its affordability. Accolades awarded to FinnU include Intelligent.com’s No. 14 2021 recipient for Top Colleges in Michigan and No. 8 out of the top 25 in the nation by OnlineU’s 2020 Best Online Christian College.
As always, charitable donations to the university are tax-deductible. This year, as a result of the CARES Act, individual taxpayers may deduct up to $300 ($600 for married-filing-jointly taxpayers) on their 2021 tax return, even if they take the standard deduction.
Giving Tuesday officially takes place on November 30 this year, but FinnU will accept donations at any point leading up to and on the day at finlandia.edu/givingtuesday.
